If you manage your own WordPress installation, you may have fallen behind the latest and greatest revisions from the geniuses at Automattic. This is no bueno because each revision usually fixes a few security holes, and if you wait long enough your site (and server) will be a sitting duck for hackers.
Fear not, for even if you’ve missed an update or ten, upgrading is a snap.
Detailed instructions for upgrading WordPress from as far back as version 1.5.x are available at codex.wordpress.org.
Key info:
If you plan on upgrading across more than two major releases, please consider upgrading incrementally to avoid potential conflicts. For example, if you plan on upgrading from 2.5 to 3.0.4, upgrade to 2.7 first, followed by 2.9, and finally 3.0.4. Older versions of WordPress can be downloaded from theĀ release archive.
